Another summer means another international trip for me and my family. This year, we had the pleasure of traveling to Brazil for a family wedding. We spent four days in Rio, a city that crawls up the slopes of dramatic slopes and cascades to it’s white sand beaches. A city where waves upon the shore keep time with the beat of Samba playing from the kiosks on the boardwalk. A city where religion quite literally encompasses all from on high, but where gay and trans people flourish. A country of geographic and cultural contradictions, where monkeys play in an urban jungle, the people are as colorful as the flowers.
